Edelweiss Retailers & Readers

User response to Edelweiss has been enthusiastic.  Since we formally launched at BEA in May 2009, our user base of retailers and other end users of publisher catalogs has grown rapidly and continues to grow daily.  It includes book professionals from retailers, national chains, newspapers, libraries, bloggers, reviewers, and others.

Here are a few statistics about the non-publisher users of Edelweiss (as of August 2011)

5900  total number of registered individual users on Edelweiss (other than subscribing publisher users)

3700  total number of companies these users represent (such as bookstores, libraries, media organizations, blogs, specialty retailers, book wholesalers, mass market merchants and chain stores.)

1670 the number of retail and wholesale companies with accounts

810 the number of media outlets (book reviews, newspapers, magazines, bloggers etc) with accounts

Note that a huge amount of Edelweiss usage is by unregistered users on the site anonymously, and not represented above. The basic functions of reviewing catalogs and books do not require registration. Also Edelweiss users at publishers use the system to push Edelweiss content to their accounts or contacts, regardless of whether the recipient is a registered user.
