Organize and manage collections

Today we released a major overhaul to the Collections tab. The main thing is that for those of you that have a lot of collections, either of your own making or shared with you, you can now organize them into folders and subfolders so that you can archive things you don’t need to see but do need to keep.

You’ll also notice new color-coded scheme of collections:

Blue: collections you created yourself

Green: collections shared by other people in your company

Grey: collections shared by people from outside your company (normally a sales rep’s collection shared with a store).

In addition:

Collections can be organized into folders and subfolders. Simply create and name a new folder, and then drag a collection into the folder.

Reps can share collections with their colleagues, reps and access them via the collections tab

Reps can make their own copies of shared collections (and also copy any attached markups)

Collections can be added to rep worklists.

Order import from Excel now available (reps)

Sales reps can now import orders into Edelweiss from Excel files. This is especially useful if you need to use Edelweiss to submit orders directly to your order system, or if you want to replicate an existing order for another customer. More information about doing this can be found here.

Reps - using markups shared with you by your colleagues is now easier

We just changed how reps shared markups appear for reps they shared them with - to make it easier for reps to access and use markups that their colleagues shared with them:

When reps share markups with other reps, the ‘sharee’ will now see those markups in their drop-down list of markups, alongside their own markups (shared markups are denoted with the asterisk* before the markup name ). Previously you had to click into shared markups from the catalog page, and you couldn’t act on them in any way, only view them.

Because the shared markups are here now, you can also use a shared markup, which a rep could not before (other than via the excel import)

1)      Click Share to re-share that markup with your own customers, as is with no changes – and share it in the normal way

2)      If you want a version you can edit, create a New markup, then select your colleague’s markup to copy elements from

If you just select the shared markup, you can still just review it (and cannot change it – it’s still the other rep’s markup). In that case, there is a message in red at the top of the screen that will indicate that you are viewing another rep’s markups. Note that one of the nice side benefits is that it solves the issue of sharing comps with each other (other than title by title in the ‘community comps’ area. They were not part of the excel import/export) – now you can just take the comps from that markup wholesale, and add them to your markup.

Reviews

This is a new feature that allows any registered and logged in reader user (i.e., booksellers, librarians, reviewers etc) to post reviews and these reviews, once submitted, will be sent along to the publisher.  The publisher may then choose to "Feature" your review, which will make it visible to other Edelweiss Users or pass it along to IndieBound, etc. Here's what a Reviews Tab with a few reviews will look like:

You can add a review to any title you find in Edelweiss. You'll notice a "Your Review" field just above the "Your Note" field.  You might also see that a peer has given that title some love:

Simply click on "Your Review" and you'll get an easy form to fill out, with space to write or paste your brilliant analysis. You can save it as a Draft or go ahead and Submit it once you're finished.  To see who loved this title, just click on the "Much Love" link.

Publisher Users:
You won't have the ability to add reviews, but you will have the ability to see either all reviews or just those reviews submitted by your accounts.

Also, selected publisher users can feature reviews and send messages to a reviewer. See your company's Edelweiss Administrator for more information.
