| Greetings! |
After all of the news we sent out last week (the Books@BEA announcement, the new List View release, and oodles of new catalogs) we had a slower news cycle for this week's email.
I will take the opportunity to review a few things:
- Stay tuned for details on a cool promo from Hay House that will start in April. Just by using Edelweiss, Hay House accounts will earn the chance to win $1,000 of Hay House merchandise. More on this next week.
- We've had a couple of question on this, so retailers & readers: remember that you can easily access your Rep Tags on the "Tags" tab of Edelweiss. We added a second tag cloud with your rep tags there a couple of months ago. See a screenshot right here.
Cheers,
Mark

Tip of the Week: Editing Custom Attributes in the List View
|
Buyers: A few months ago, we added the ability for users working a catalog to edit title data that will be exported directly in the List View, rather than only editing in the "Export Preview". This is a handy feature for any buyer or title data administrator because it lets you edit things like the title, or author, or format code, as you review titles in the full catalog list view.
Many things can be handled by mapping in Edelweiss (such as your store-specific vendor codes) or by export rules (such as removing punctuation or abbreviating) so that you do should not need to make routine adjustments in this manner - the idea is that you would use this for handling exceptions to the norm. Also, for systems that have custom fields in Edelweiss, this is another way to access them for editing - such as second store section/category.
- Go to the "Administration" tab in Edelweiss, and select the "Import/Export" section from the list at left. Then select the "POS Default" link. See this screen capture.
- Check the box that says "Enable POS-specific editing in catalogs." Note that this is a user-specific preference, so each person that may need this will need to enable it separately..
- You will now see a link on the right side of the List View for each title that says "Edit Wordstock Attributes" (or whichever POS system you have). You can use this link to edit exportable fields from the List View.
