Welcome Bloggers!

We've recently had an exciting influx of new users from the book-blogging world. Bloggers are an increasingly important part of the greater book community and more and more often we hear about successful relationships between bloggers and book stores, and I think it's safe to say that publishers are excited about these passionate voices as well. These symbiotic relationships make sense in so many ways, not least of which is simply a shared passion, if not even a shared mission: that of helping the world find great books. We're thrilled to help facilitate that initial discovery of these great books in whatever way we can. Bloggers, check out this guest blog post I did at the Book Lady's Blog recently to see how to quickly get the most out of Edelweiss. Booksellers and publishers, this post may actually highlight ways to use Edelweiss that you haven"t tried yet.

Feature Highlight: The Work List
One of the most important things to help yourself use Edelweiss as effectively as possible is to be as organized as possible. Naming your orders descriptively (listing the publisher/imprint, the season, etc.) is enormously helpful.  This simple step can help keep you from getting lost in your own Orders Tab.  Simply calling an order "Spring '11" will be confusing as the buying season progresses.

Equally helpful, for reps and retailers alike, is the often under-utilized Work List feature. By putting whatever catalog(s) you happen to be working your way through on a Work List, you can save yourself a ton of time.  Your Work List essentially moves through Edelweiss with you, allowing you to quickly find your most immediately relevant catalogs without wading through those virtual piles of other catalogs.  Retailers, adding recently received rep mark-ups to your Work List is also highly recommended.

Drop-Ins

Drop-ins have been eerily quiet the last few weeks. Too quiet?
Since last week's newsletter there appear to be no new drop-ins from any publishers.
